Many people today struggle, the financial restraint is causing a lot of unneeded stress. It is hard to find a job that pays more than minimum wage and even the jobs that do pay a decent amount, does not cover most living expenses. In 1980, the income median was $21,020/year and in 2021 the income median is $68,526. In 1980, the median price of buying a home was $47,200 whereas for 2021 the median price of a home is $330,800. In 1980, the average apartment median rent was $308/month while today (June 2021) the median rent is $1219. There are people working 40 hours a week sometimes more and are still homeless because their wages do not cover housing and food costs. These are problems that have been there even before Covid but became extremely worse with the effects of Covid.
I feel like the income medians are a bit high, I do not know anyone single person who makes over $60k a year. Most families I know have two incomes that do not add up to more than $60k together let alone separately. There are some companies out there trying to help the ones who fall into the lower half of the income war. Many people shop at Aldi for groceries since the prices are decent. Another favorite among many of all ages is Dollar Tree. They have everything from school supplies, gift giving supplies, to groceries and car accessories. So shop these stores to get the most out of what you have to spend.
Be Kind this week.
